S&C Co-Chair Bob Giuffra was profiled in the Daily Journal’s “Leading Commercial Litigators 2025.” “In an era of hyper-specialization, I’m a generalist,” he said. “My job is to see all the balls in the air that need to be managed.” Bob discussed his role clerking for Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist before his time at S&C, noting “[t]he best things I learned were a perspective on how judges make decisions, the importance of clear writing and how to present arguments simply.”
Bob also discussed his recent work on matters including Goldman Sachs’ victory in a 13-year class certification battle and Allianz’s dismissal of securities class action claims. “That kind of case is my raison d’etre,” he said in reference to Allianz. “As you navigate that chessboard, each move has impacts down the road. That one took a lot of navigation.”
Bob highlighted the importance of maintaining S&C’s culture, saying “[t]here’s a trend in the profession to turn law firms into investment banks with a me culture, not a we culture. We do extremely well here by staying homegrown and collaborative.”
