S&C Senior Chair Rodge Cohen appeared on Bloomberg TV’s Wall Street Week to discuss the proposed capital regulations referred to as the Basel III Endgame. Rodge commented that there will be substantial revisions to the current proposal.
Speaking on other areas to watch in the banking industry, he highlighted the long-term debt proposal which he said would be “a real earnings-eater.” Rodge also said the overall supervisory situation is noteworthy, after the Fed’s recent comments that two-thirds of large banks have an unsatisfactory rating in at least one component. “I think that has got to be an all-time high, except for maybe 2008 and 2009,” he said.
