Beth Newton, Co-Head of S&C’s Women’s Initiative Committee, spoke with the American Bar Association about how the Firm supports working parents in the legal field. She highlighted the programs S&C offers for parents and caregivers, including onboarding for lawyers returning from parental leave. As noted in the article, in 2023, the Firm received two top awards—for advancement and compensation—from Yale Law Women+. The recognition was due in part to S&C’s policy providing for 18 weeks of parental leave.
“We want to make sure we’re really communicating with new working moms to make sure they have what they need to feel good about coming back to the office,” Newton said. “We don’t want people to feel they have to make a choice to give up a career that they are passionate about.”
