DS Smith has agreed to combine with International Paper in an all-share deal with a transaction value of approximately $9.9 billion. The deal will create a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions of which DS Smith shareholders will own 33.7 percent of the combined company and International Paper shareholders will own 66.3 percent.
DS Smith is a U.K.-based provider of sustainable fiber-based packaging worldwide, which is supported by recycling and papermaking operations.
Tennessee-based International Paper is a global provider of renewable fiber-based packaging and pulp products, and one of the world's largest recyclers.
