Advance, a private, family-held business that invests in a broad range of media and technology companies, completed its acquisition of The IRONMAN Group from China’s Wanda Sports Group Company Limited on July 17.
The IRONMAN Group is the largest operator of mass participation sports in the world, with events that include the IRONMAN® Triathlon Series, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series®, and Ultra-Trail® World Tour events.
Advance owns, operates and invests in companies spanning media, entertainment, technology, communications and education sectors. Its portfolio includes Condé Nast and major investments in Charter Communications, reddit Inc. and Discovery, Inc. Advance is making this acquisition through newly formed investment vehicles under its private equity division along with a minority co-investor, Orkila Capital.
