On June 25, Melissa Sawyer, S&C’s Global Head of M&A and Co-Head of S&C’s Corporate Governance Practice, and Tony Lewis, Co-Head of the Firm’s National Security and Cybersecurity Practices, will speak at the Stanford Directors’ College. Directors’ College, held from June 23 to 25 at Stanford Law School, is the nation’s premier executive education program for directors and senior executives of publicly traded firms. The program will address a range of issues confronting modern boards, including ESG considerations, CEO succession, challenges posed by activist investors, and contemporary challenges including the state of the macroeconomy and emerging ransomware and cybersecurity threats, among other topics. Shareholder Activism and Shareholder Engagement
Melissa Sawyer, S&C’s Global Head of M&A and Co-Head of S&C’s Corporate Governance Practice, will speak in the plenary session “Shareholder Activism and Shareholder Engagement,” which will review changes in law and policy that have animated recent developments in shareholder activism and address how boards can adapt their activism preparedness and response programs to the current landscape.
Ransomware Incident Response Interactive Plenary Session
Tony Lewis, Co-Head of the Firm’s National Security and Cybersecurity Practices, will speak in “Interactive Simulation of Cyber Incident: Practice Your Readiness and Response,” in which participants will discuss the legal implications and questions pertaining to a simulated ransomware demand presented to the audience, who will act as board members.
