The Seasonal Meeting of the International Section of the New York State Bar Association took place in Montreal from October 23 to 26 at the Intercontinental Hotel. S&C was a Diamond Sponsor of the conference. Mark Rosenberg chaired the conference, and Corey Omer was a member of the New York Steering Committee. Mark, Joseph Neuhaus, Renata Hesse, Nicole Friedlander and Corey all participated on panels, and Julia Long provided valuable organizational assistance. The conference, whose theme was “Where Do We Go From Here?”, presented 28 panels on key issues in a large number of evolving areas, including, among others, arbitration, artificial intelligence, cannabis, competition enforcement, cybersecurity, cryptocurrency, enforcement of judgments, ethics, free trade agreements, immigration and international litigation. Mark co-chaired a plenary titled “Artificial Intelligence – The Promise, the Peril, and the Law” and chaired a panel titled “Insurance: Cross-Border Challenges.” Corey chaired a panel on cybersecurity titled “Breach and Incident Response,” in which Nicole participated as a panelist. Joseph co-chaired a panel titled “International Commercial Arbitration: Hot Topics,” in which he spoke about the Draft Cybersecurity Protocol for International Arbitration, and participated on a panel titled “Ethics in Today’s Transactional and Dispute Resolution Practice: An Entirely New Ball Game!” Renata co-chaired a panel titled “Competition Enforcement Around the Globe: Navigating Regulatory Clearance in Cross-Border Transactions.”
