A litigation partner at Sullivan & Cromwell for more than 30 years, Bob Osgood became senior counsel in 2010. He has defended companies and individuals in courts in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Camden, New Jersey and Beaumount, Texas, among others. Mr. Osgood currently is defending an English company against a claim for damages in the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London, England. As a result of his court room record, he was elected a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers in 1986.
Mr. Osgood has long experience in arbitration. He is currently defending one of the world’s largest companies against a multi-million dollar arbitration claim for damages in New York.
Based in the Firm's London office since 1989, Mr. Osgood also has dual qualifications in European Competition law and U.S. antitrust law.
He appears before the European Commission in cartel investigations, applications for leniency, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. Mr. Osgood also has in-depth experience dealing with the U.S. Department of Justice in connection with grand jury antitrust investigations. He has been in charge of defending or settling follow-up class action litigation in the United States and been the lead antitrust lawyer before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission on several major acquisitions.
Mr. Osgood is co-head of the European Litigation and Arbitration Group.
