SULLIVAN & CROMWELL LLP earned its place among "one of the 20 coveted spots" of the 200 law firms that achieved top rankings in the Am Law A-List. The A-List includes "the nation's elite — the law firms that are best at balancing a thriving business with their obligations to the profession," according to The American Lawyer. S&C performed impressively in all four A-List categories. Among the national A-List Top 20 firms, S&C ranked #8 in associate satisfaction, and #4 among New York firms. In addition, S&C lawyers averaged 59 pro bono hours per lawyer in 2007, up from 44 hours in 2006, and the Firm was acknowledged for its efforts to attract more minority associates. The publication recognized the hiring and efforts of Marcia Levy in her role as the Firm's Special Counsel for Pro Bono Initiatives and Alphonzo Grant in his role as S&C's Director of Diversity.
