Stacey Friedman is a partner in the Firm’s Litigation Group. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation, including complex securities, class action, derivative, antitrust and employment litigation.

Ms. Friedman has represented clients in federal and state litigation, before arbitration panels, in civil and criminal investigations and in proceedings involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the New York Stock Exchange, the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation and the European Commission.

Ms. Friedman is a member of S&C’s Diversity Committee.

Selected Cases

  • Represents JPMorgan Chase in litigation and investigations arising out of its acquisition of Washington Mutual Bank from the FDIC, including actions pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware
  • Represents Eisai in its defense of antitrust actions around the country brought by states’ Attorneys General, consumers and competitors following the Department of Justice’s antitrust case against the company
  • Represented the Special Litigation Committee of the board of directors of Monster in its internal investigation concerning options “backdating” and in related litigation in state and federal court
  • Represented Bank of America Corporation in derivative litigation and securities and ERISA class actions arising out of earnings announcement of MBNA Corporation, which Bank of America acquired at the end of 2005
  • Represented a senior executive of Assurant, Inc. in a reinsurance investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Represented Goldman Sachs in an industry-wide investigation and global settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, National Association of Securities Dealers, New York Stock Exchange and states’ attorneys general relating to alleged conflicts of interest involving research analysts
  • Represented Cablevision in a shareholder class action filed in Delaware Chancery Court in which plaintiffs allege that certain directors of the company breached their fiduciary duties
  • Represented Diageo in antitrust proceedings before the Federal Trade Commission and other competition authorities related to its sale of Pillsbury and acquisition of Seagram Wine & Spirits
