On January 27, Mmes. Sawyer and Seymour spoke at the New York University Journal of Law and Business' Seventh Annual Symposium, Corporate Governance in the Global Marketplace: New Players, Cross-border Investing and Corporate Crime. Ms. Sawyer spoke on the panel, “Players in New Capital Markets,” and discussed developments in high frequency trading as a driver for the modern securities market, exchange traded funds decreasing returns to investors and the corporate governance issues that emerge as a result. Ms. Seymour spoke on the panel, “FCPA and U.K. Bribery Act,” which addressed how corporate boards view the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the U.K. Bribery Act, and what actions they must take to remain compliant with both acts.
